Day 2

Reflecting on the day has my mind spinning. So many different sights, experiences, and fellowship fun. This team gets along so well together, but with Perry, Bobby, and Jason around, why would there ever be a dull moment? After Menvil's devotion this morning, we headed off to Antigua. Antigua used to be the capital of Guatemala, but after so many earthquakes and floods, they moved the capital to Guatemala City. The day we soooooooo interesting as we were immersed in a brand new culture. Markets lined the streets, children would come with bags of goods to sell, and words that are still ringing in our ears from the day is " How much you pay?"
Everyone has their own stories to share ( like Bobby accidently hitting someone in the head with an orange), but the most touching one for me was when Zach sat down to take a rest, and a little boy about his age came up to him and starting polishing his shoes. Zach sat there and let him, and after we paid the boy I explained to Zach that the money we gave him was probably for him and his family to buy food. 2 boys the same age, but very different worlds.
Tonight, the electricity was out for about two hours. So, our church service was by candlelight. This turned out to be very humbling. We split into small groups and shared testimonies of how God is a personal God in our lives.
Lastly, tonight, the team is fellowshipping on the back patio watching red lava come out of a volcano. I so wish I could post pics, but forgot my camera cord at home.
God is in this place.
